Under the Sea

Just hanging around

Most of our family members are be big fans of the Disney cartoons...and my daughter-in-law is no exception.  So, since her birthday was coming up I decided to try my hand at making my first wreath.

Robin's favorite Disney movie is now and has always been The Little Mermaid and with this in mind I got to work on her birthday gift...all the time with fingers crossed and hoping that she'll like it.  I must admit it was really enjoyable making this and I'm already working on plans for a couple of more wreath projects!  Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm still singing all of the Little Mermaid songs in my head...even though I completed this days ago...Ugh!

Now for my wreath.  I hope you like it.

                                                                         WELCOME

Ariel

Sebastian

Flounder

For this project, I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Dreams Come True-Ariel #5 (pg33), cut at 9 1/2", Sebastian (pg37), cut at 2 1/2", Flounder (pg38), cut at 2 1/2",  ArlBrd (pg41), cut at 6 1/2" and Plantin Schoolbook-letter, cut at 1 1/4".

For the little extras...Well, the only thing I did was add Glossy Accents to the eyes of each character, Sebastian's outer body and Ariel's lips.  Plus, a Matte finish spray to protect the images from fading and collecting dust.

*Update-Robin LOVED the wreath!

Domestic Goddess

1950's Retro

The other day, my son sent me some pictures of a 1953 Coke machine that he bought and rewired to use in his home...and told me this inspired him and his wife to design their kitchen in 50's Retro.  I don't know about you, but I love this style (even though it was before my time) and with all this talk of the 50's...Well, I just had to create a card.

I didn't have any intentions of entering this card in a challenge, but while I was browsing the internet I came across a new blog (to me) that had an active challenge theme of " 20th Century"!  You can create a project that is inspired by 20th century styles, a particular era or even a fond memory...the choices are endless.  So, if there is something that stands out to you, take some time and join in the fun over at the Craft-room challenge.

Now for my card.  I hope you like it.

     Coffee's On

For this card I used the following cartridge and measurements.  Suburbia-Vera (pg39), cut at 5 1/2", coffee pot (pg33), cut at 1", stove (pg50), cut at 3 3/4", Goddess (pg77), cut at 1/2" and domestic (pg82), cut at 3/4".

This card is 5"x 7"...Cherry patterned paper is cut at 4"x 4 7/8", Maroon paper is cut at 3 1/8"x 4 7/8" and is scored at every 1/8".  The Hunter Green strip is cut at 3/8"x 4 7/8 and the Brown strip is cut at  1/4"x 4 7/8".

For the little extras...I used Glossy Accents for the oven door to give it the look of glass and I placed pop dots on the upper have of the female image to give a little depth.

Thinking of you

Just sitting here...Thinking of You

As I've said in another post, I am wanting to challenge myself by creating cards that I've never tried before and...This time around it is a Clean and Simple card, as well as a sketch.

The card I've made will be entered into the challenge over at CAS-Colours & Sketches  This challenge is a sketch challenge and you must also use a stamp.  There are still a few days left, so if you'd like...think something up and join in on the fun.

Now for my card.  I hope you like it.

Donald

For this card I used the following cartridge and measurement.  Mickey and Friends-Donald (pg110), cut at 2 1/2".

This card measures 5"x 5".  The triangle was cut from a 5"x 3" piece of black card stock, the sentiment was made by using Memento/Tuxedo Black ink and a TPC Studio stamp from the Greetings collection.

Valentine #2

Valentine for Molly

This Valentine card is for my little "Cricket", Molly Marie.

I made this card for our "middle" grandbaby...She loves to watch things move about, so I used a wobble on her card to make the little bee dance!

  Bee Mine

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Teddy Bear Parade-Bee, cut at 3 3/4" and Plantin School Book-letters, cut at 3/4".

This card is 5"x 7"...the first layer (blue) is cut at 4 3/4"x 6 3/4", layer two (green) is cut at 4"x 5 1/2" and is embossed with the Honeycomb embossing folder.

For the little extras...I simply used 1/4" ribbon for a trim and made the little pink bow using 1/8" ribbon.

Something Sweet...

Natures candy...simply sweet

What's sweeter then a fresh piece of fruit that's been left to ripen to perfection...

When I came across the challenge over at Stuck on u Sketches and saw that it was for "Something" sweet, I automatically thought of fruit.  To me, nothing comes close to the sweetness of a perfectly ripe piece of fruit...of any kind...especially when homegrown!

So, with this in mind I set out to create a card that showed what I consider "something" sweet.  I hope you like it.

Simply sweet!

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Preserves-pear #3 (pg26), cut at 2 3/4", melon #2 (pg41), cut at 3 3/4", melon #3 (pg42), cut at 1 1/4", blueberry #1 (pg50), cut at 2", and raspberry (pg56), cut at 1 1/4".  Plantin School Book-sweet, cut at 3/4" and Graphically Speaking-phrase/simply (pg49), cut at 3/4".

This card is 5"x 7"...the first layer (green) is cut at 4 1/4"x 6 1/4", the second layer (orange) is cut at 4"x 6" and the third layer (brown) is cut at 3 1/2"x 5 1/2".

The little extras...I couldn't really find the right colors of paper for some of the fruit and resorted to using my Copics to get the colors I wanted...For the raspberries I used G-85, V-93 and RV-34...then for the cantaloupe vine and blueberries I used V-15, 17 and E-15.  I also used 1/8" and 1/4" pop dots to give the card some depth and dimension.

Sketch challenge

Panda bear and Blossoms

I don't think I've ever entered a "sketch" challenge before...I truly love coming up with my own ideas, but I'd like to learn how to take someone else's vision and make it my own.  So, my personal goal is to find some of these wonderful sketches and re-create them to fit my style.  It's like someone planting the seed and then I come along and tend it as it grows.

So for my "first" sketch challenge, I went looking at some really great blogs and found the sketch I wanted to try.  I found it over at Die Cuttin' Divas and if you're interested in doing a sketch challenge, whether you're new at it, like me or pro...there's still time!  So head on over and have a look.

Now for my card and my take on the sketch.  I hope you like it.

Panda bear and Blossoms

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Pagoda-Panda #2 (pg36), cut at 2 1/4", Kanji "happiness" (pg45), cut at 1 1/2" and flower #2 (pg51), cut at 1 1/4", 2" and 2 1/4".  George and Basic Shapes-circle (pg108), cut at 1/4".

This card is a 5"x7"...the first layer (cream) is cut at 4 3/4"x 6 3/4", the second layer (burgundy) is cut at 4"x 6 9/16"...and the two squares are cut as follows.  The first layer of the square (light burgundy) is cut at 3"x 3" and the second layer (burgundy) is cut at 2 3/4"x 2 3/4".  The four circles are cut at 1/4".

For the little extras...I made the flowers using white card stock and colored them using Copic markers G-85 and R-81...I also used Momento ink Rhubarb for the centers.  I chose to do this since I didn't really have any paper that matched my color choices.  I think I'm pretty happy with the results though.

I also used pop dots on two sets of the flowers to add some depth and dimension.

Dreaming of Spring

Koi and water lilies

With all of the sub zero and freezing temperatures, along with lots of snow and ice, my thoughts turn to my flower beds and water garden...I can't help but daydream about warmer weather, flowers blooming and watching my Koi enjoy their awakening from a long cold slumber.

What better to do then to make a card!  So when I sat down to create this card, I was truly inspired by my pond and the Koi that call it home. I'll be entering this card into the challenge over at Crafts 4 Eternity,...for their Oriental theme.  If you have some time on your hands and are looking for a fun challenge, maybe you could head on over and enter...it's not to late.  Now for my card...I hope you like it.

Dreamin' of warmer days

For this card I used the following cartridge and measurements.  Art Nouveau-water lily #2 (pg37), cut at 3" and Koi (pg59), also cut at 3".

This card is a 5"x7 1/2"...the first layer (dark brown) is cut at 4 3/4"x7 1/4", layer two (green) is cut at 4 1/2"x7" and the third layer (blue) is cut at 3"x5".

For this card all image pieces were cut using white cardstock and colored with the following Copic markers.  To color the Koi-Y35, Y38 and W7...for the water lily-R20, R22, G82 and G85.

I decided to use Copic markers instead of colored cardstock for this card, to give it more of a flowing water color feel...I'm pleased with the results and hope you find it pleasing also.

Valentine #1

Valentine for Delilah

This is one of two cards I'll be making for our grandbabies this Valentine Day...and since the girls are to young for candies, they'll also be getting a cute little stuffed animal from Nana and Pap.

I'll be entering this card in the challenge over at the Cut it up challenge blog.  Their challenge this week is "Through the woods", so anything you want to create that is associated with wood, wood grain, woodland creatures, trees...or anything else that comes to mind, go on over and join in.

For this card I decided to go with another Disney character, simply because I think they're all so cute!
I hope you like it.

Dale

For this card I used the following cartridge and measurements.  Disney Classics-Dale (pg107), cut at 5 1/2" and heart/layer (pg117), cut at 3/4", 1" and 2".

Now for the little extras.  For the embossing I used the Tim Holtz folder "wood grain", I also used Glossy Accent for Dales nose and eyes, inked his lighter color fur and large heart with Martha Stewarts brownstone...and lastly, used a Copic marker to make the initials and heart.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look.  Kathie

Think PINK!

Thinking pink...

Well it's happened again...We've been blessed with another grandbaby and yes, it's another GIRL! That's three for three.  Bryanna Leigh arrived yesterday and came in at 9.59 lbs..  Are we excited and proud...YOU BET!  So off I went to make a card for our newest addition to the family.

I made this card with our newest grandbaby in mind and wanted it to be something special for her mommy and daddy also...a "keepsake" so to speak.  I also decided at this time to get involved in some challenges again to get my creative juices flowing and get my blog back into an active state.

The first challenge is over at Mojo Monday and is a sketch challenge and the second one is over at The Pink Elephant and their challenge is to use the color pink/red, your choice.  So, if you find you have some  time to create, go on over and see what's going on at their blogs and join in on the challenges.

For my card I chose Bambi...I think it's such a cute image and is perfect for a brand new little baby  Besides, I also think the Disney characters are timeless.  I hope you like it.

                                                                              Bambi

For this card I used the following cartridges and measurements.  Disney Classics-Bambi #2 (pg62), cut at 5" and Plantin Schoolbook-letters, cut at 3/4".

I really wanted this card to speak for its self, so I did not ink the edges like I normally do, but I did feel that embossing behind the image would make Bambi standout.  The embossing folder that I used was Birds and Swirls, from Cuttlebug.  I also used the Martha Stewart scoreboard to create the panels on the lower section of the card behind my grandbaby's name and placed a piece of 1/4" pink satin ribbon and handmade bow to finish it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look...I hope you like it.  Kathie
